You shouldn't mention the Blues. It might trigger someone.

8-3 Blackhawks. Kane with the Hatty and 3 helpers. Phil goes through 4 packs of Bubble yum and at the presser after the game say: "that's a great team over there"....

From Craig Custance's Athletic article, speaking with Botterill:

9. The Buffalo Sabres are in a completely different spot. Sabres GM Jason Botterill conceded that the Sabres recent play is disappointing but he said it doesn’t necessarily change the offseason plan. They want to make another trade to add a player with term on his contract if it makes sense.

We’ve always known that we had to make adjustments and we’ll have to make adjustments,” Botterill said. “It’s the development of the young kids. Then, also, we’ve always talked about can we add players with term that can help our group? That’s what we did with Brandon Montour. Those are the types of trades we’re going to continue to look at.”

10. The Sabres still have two first-round picks in the upcoming draft so Botterill will have plenty of ammunition to add another player with term. He also has to get Jeff Skinner signed, a negotiation that Betterill said remains “pretty positive on both sides.”

He smiled when told that the word on the street was that the Sabres were big game hunting at the deadline. One source mentioned the Sabres as a suitor in the Matt Duchene conversations but Botterill wasn’t giving anything up. “I think there’s discussions,” he said. “Especially around the trade deadline time, there’s always going to be more rumors than fact.”

As far as GM speak, I feel Botterill is relatively easy to read, and you kinda know his feelings on topics without him actually having to tell you. He was very positive about the Reinhart and Nelson negotiations for extensions, even as Casey would have been able to walk. Same with Mittelstadt and Borgen. On the other hand, when Kane came up, you didn't get the notion from the player or the GM that a contract extension was ever in the works. Every time ROR was brought up, culture change somehow entered the conversation.

So what we can try and gather from this is, an extension for Skinner will eventually happen, and he will undoubtedly be looking to add, via trade AND UFA (judiciously like Beane).

Not to mention he followed through on his promise not to deal assets for pending UFAs.

I was just going to post this...

I am not sure I want the Sabres going big game hunting without being able to move Okposo but the fact that Botts has a vision and is sticking to it is encouraging.

I think Phil gets canned though in the offseason

Caution and patience. With so many guys under contract for next year, he’d have to move out some guys. And right now, this team has relatively few that other teams would want.

sorry...thought lower-case 'b' would suffice...and besides, "home of Chess Records and artists like Muddy Waters and Charlie Musselwhite" wouldn't fit in the title

Sabres score 8 in the first period. They then proceed to give up 10 in the last 2 minutes of the second period. No scoring in the third until Phil pulls Hutton with 3 minutes left, and then Kane scores his 4th goal of the game into the empty net. Final score Black Hawks 11, Sabres 8.

Normally it would but spelling and grammar don't always matter around here, much like special teams

Ooooh, the immortal Buddy Guy is even better than John Valby produced-Schony. The umbrella of good music is both large and strange. There is room for both under it.

never knew that...from wiki:

In addition to his blue comedy act, Valby has recorded and produced pop and rock albums for himself and other artists, including Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jim Schoenfeld, with whom Valby recorded two albums, Schony (1972) and The Key is Love (1974).

Brian Eno was too busy to produce Schony.
